Testimonials From Our Audiences

Thula Sizwe toured from Maryland to Connecticut for its 2005 United States tour. The group brought its unique blend of African rhythms and dance to middle schools, high school, universities, and church groups in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut. Below are some of the many comments we have received from our appreciative school audiences.

"One of the best assemblies ever! Amazing, an experience most people will never have the opportunity to see."

-- Vice Principal Dheranie Suarez of Howell Memorial Middle School, Howell, NJ

"Our faculty, staff, and students really enjoyed the performance."

-- Assistant Director of Finance & Administration Rebecca G. Levy, The Gilman School, Baltimore, MD

"The Thula Sizwe assembly was absolutely the best assembly we have ever had."

Heather Ridge School, Frederick, MD

"Your beautiful harmonies and spellbinding dance filled us with joy!"

-- Brunswick Elementary School, Brunswick, MD

Abel is really incredible - as a leader, as a creative musician, as a human being. It's really an honor to have him with us.... Such a benediction on our home to have them singing like that. Steve's face lit up - he understood what I'd been talking about for all these years of loving South African harmonic singing. I'll never forget it.

-- Margaret Badger, Newark, DE

Our 2007 tour has also produced many unsolicited expressions of joy from churches and schools. Here are some examples:

What a great group!! Our lives were so enriched and blessed by them being with us for a few days!! The concert was AMAZING!! The worship experience at the Assoc. meeting in Bath was (to quote one of the evaluations:) "...the best worship we've had in the 30 years I've been in this Association - the African Choir was the highlight!" I totally agree! Our worship here at First Congregational on Sunday morning was so powerful - one of African-American members (the first Black member here at FCC 55 years ago) told me, "Carl, today we had us some church!" Oh, and we did!

-- Pastor Carl Richter, First Congregational UCC, Lorain, OH

"Our church loved the choir and really connected to them. We are pleased that we could host them and hope that if they come this way again you will think of Needham as a place to land for a while."

-- Rev. Susan Cartmell, Senior Pastor, the Congregational Church of Needham, MA _____________________________________________________
